meet Mike
Mike distefano, ma, atc, cscs
Mike DiStefano has over 20 years of experience evaluating, treating, and training athletes. His expertise is addressing chronic musculoskeletal pain to restore normal function, and helping athletes return to sport following injury. Mike has successfully treated hundreds of distance runners, professional triathletes, and Division I athletes. Mike has also authored the National Athletic Trainers' Association position statement on the management of patellofemoral pain syndrome, as well as several other research publications related to musculoskeletal injury prevention.
Mike was the athletic trainer for several intercollegiate sports teams at UNC-Chapel Hill and at E.O. Smith High School. During his work as a private clinician, Mike has successfully helped over 100 athletes return to high school or college sport participation after ACL reconstructions.

Mike also serves as an adjunct faculty member for the Professional Athletic Training Program and the undergraduate Exercise Science program at the University of Connecticut.

Mike received his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from Lenoir-Rhyne College and his graduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
